Icarus Phoenix – “Agradecido”

/

A memorable rocker exuding the virtues of being grateful “Agradecido” is another piece of quality songwriting from Icarus Phoenix. The classic myth of Persephone is a thematic inspiration, crossed with a modern, personal outlook on separation and fatherhood.

“I had a thought that if I were already dead I’d be extremely grateful to have any little extra experience with my son and that’s how this song was born,” says guitarist/vocalist Drew Danburry. The “disregard upon my tongue,” halted, multi-vocal momentum is an especially striking moment, easing back into the steadier guitar twangs and melodic assortments. “Agradecido” is another strong showing from Icarus Phoenix, impressing in the past with tracks like “Eddie King.”

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
