Thee Ancient Asses – “Algorhythm”

Austin-based trio Thee Ancient Asses craft a stirring sound on “Algorhythm,” expanding from the nocturnal sounds of neighborhood crickets to a hypnotic bass groove and ensuing guitar mystique. They describe the track as “a play on words—part simulation theory, part cultural algorithm-speak, part the polyrhythmic pulse of the universe—and an anthem for the full spectrum of coexisting life.”

Formed in 2022, the act shows a knack for riveting momentum, especially as the lead delivery ascends to a vibrant “Welcome to the one and only / Symphonic simulation” exultation, complemented by psychedelic backing harmonious vocal layers. A mandolin solo at the two-minute mark also captivates. “Algorhythm” is an enveloping, creative rock success from Thee Ancient Asses.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
