Bad Valentines – “November Shadows”

Helsinki-based band Bad Valentines unveil a punchy blend of jangling guitar rock, driving bass lines, and expressive vocal melodies on new single “November Shadows,” balancing a rough-edged energy with more reflective songwriting. The first single from their forthcoming debut album, due in 2027, was written by guitarist Pekko Mantzin and explores the idea of finding companionship in moments of solitude.

A rumbling, moody bass line and glimpses of guitar build into a more expressively blaring twang, crafting an immediate sense of momentum. The bouncy bass line persists amidst jangly guitars as Hon’s stirring vocals emerge. “November Shadows, walk beside me everywhere I go,” the vocal presence emits, particularly enthralling in the “so cold” refrain bolstered by chilling backing reflections. “I’m not afraid of being alone,” Hon’s vocals continue to immerse, pairing the punchy title-bearing punch with more introspective, autumnal depictions.

A memorable bridge takes hold around the two-minute mark, where a new, engaging guitar progression drives into a reprisal of the “November shadows” vocal sequence. “I’m in great company,” Hon’s vocals then launch into a call-and-response fervor, the “drowned in my dreams” vocal layering combining with brisk guitars for a wholly replay-inducing stylishness. “November Shadows” is a strongly melodic, energy-filled standout of a track from Bad Valentines.
