  • Brooklyn shoegaze band @4vestamusic impress with new track “Evening Star,” the first track off their debut EP, Light & Chemicals. Like many shoegaze acts, they are heavily influenced by My Bloody Valentine’s classic Loveless, particularly the heavier shoegaze sound. Unlike many, 4Vesta succeed immensely in churning out a convincing shoegaze-fronted sound. They convince with a densely lush array of layers, as vocals rise beautifully alongside guitar and rhythmic escalation at 02:13.   • The latest track from producer/keyboardist pantology, “Lost Summer” fuses jazz, soul, and downtempo electronica with seamless precision. Funk bass and nocturnal electronic production impress within the consuming arsenal. The Brooklyn-based pantology grew up playing piano — raised by classical musicians — and eventually infused that experience with a love for jazz, soul, and funk. Debut single “Never Enough” drew praise for its smooth production and confident sound, and “Lost Summer” continues that trend for this promising project. {Link to listen in bio}
  • Fit for nighttime drives, “Strangers” is a newly released track from songwriter/producer Javier. Effectively conveying a late-night, soul-pop sound reminiscent of Frank Ocean, “Strangers” rides on entrancing vocals to start. The “strangers treat me better than you do,” hook works wonderfully with the mellow guitar smatterings and subtle vocal backing. A tender guitar solo around 01:30 adds nicely to the seductive feel. “Strangers” succeeds in mood and melodic captivation. “This song is about being alienated by the people you think are closest to you,” Javier says. “I got the idea for it when I started feeling like a lot of people that I valued in my life didn’t see the same worth in me.   • “Oblivion” is a gripping, atmospheric track from Amphior, the project of Danish electronic music producer Mathias Hammerstrøm (featured in the past with solo material and as Amphior). Hammerstrøm’s knack for mysterious, Twin Peaks-esque melodies is a continuation throughout his releases, and continues on “Oblivion” with its murky synths and dark crackling. “Oblivion” opens up Amphior’s forth EP We Used to Dance. 40 minutes long, the EP releases on September 2nd on Mathias’ own label ‘Hammerstrøm Records’. Sangam will also have a remix of “Oblivion” upcoming. “I wanted to write a record that was more inspired by ambient music and meditation exploring memories and flashbacks – trying to hold onto them, before they disappear completely,” the artist says. The release also leans “comfortably into aspirations of ambient music, hints of meditation and the internet phenomenal ‘ASMR’.” “I’ve known about ASMR for a couple of years and sometimes listen to videos on YouTube when I want to feel the “tingling” sensation and I even use it for sleep – I think ASMR is offering a very special aspect of sonic calmness and I wanted to explore its function when it’s mixed with music already aiming to achieve a calm atmosphere.”
