“Reach for the Dead” is the first fully revealed track off Boards of Canada’s hugely anticipated album, Tomorrow’s Harvest, due out June 10th (11th in the US). A glowing ambiance consumes the background over percussive pumps, the choir-like synth pad showing majestic potential early on. Sharp synth arpeggios increase in volume once appearing, the tranquil percussion pushing forward at 02:50. It’s not the most intricate or explosive track, but reminds us that Boards of Canada are among the best at creating wholly intoxicating soundscapes.
“Reach for the Dead” technically premiered yesterday in Tokyo, but in mysterious video form. This is finally a high quality, full reveal from Tomorrow’s Harvest, which was preceded by an elaborate puzzle-based promotional campaign.
