PLEASE. – “Dog Days”

Released just a week ago, “Dog Days” is an exciting track from PLEASE., an act based around Pennsylvania (Philadelphia/Harrisburg/Lewistown). Their punchy, punk-tinged guitar lines remind of The Wrens’ mounting intricacy, while the track’s central hook (“I need a friend”) exudes a bit of Modest Mouse in the overall tonal ferocity. The result is an excitingly nostalgic take on punk-tinged alternative and garage-rock, without neglecting the need for a convincing central hook and guitar-laden bridge (02:17). It’s a track that’s straight to-the-point, while succeeding fully in its intended aesthetic.
