Vajra – “The Mirror”

NYC-based alternative/metal group Vajra just wrapped up a 29-show co-headlining tour, their live presence drawing acclaim from the likes of Rolling Stone, who referred to them as a “must-see act.” Fortunately, their energy translates to the studio as well, with new track “The Mirror” showcasing their eclectic approach for the genre. Pulsating, emotional metal permeates for much of the first 02:30, though around 02:52 makes a transition to a gorgeous, lush interlude where the longing vocals of Annamaria Pinna help kick back into percussive and guitar-laden fervor. A mixture of aggressive energy and melodic contemplation, “The Mirror” is a nice introduction for metal and alternative fans to get into Vajra.
