Women of the Night – “Be Careful What You Wish For”

Women of the Night are a duo out of Brooklyn, by way of Adelaide / Seoul. Describing their style aptly as “Velvet Underground meets The Birthday Party,” Women of the Night churn out a hybrid of glam-friendly soundscapes and rock-forward charisma. They recently released two tracks in “Moscow Mansions” and “Be Careful What You Wish For.” The former is a chugging rock ‘n’ roller, with a sweltering presence that’s enhanced by the nocturnal tint of haunting keys. I’m particularly fond of “Be Careful What You Wish For” and its melodic, overlapping vocal harmonies. It’s suave and satisfying addictive, especially as that twangy guitar hits at 02:19.

“Be Careful What You Wish For” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of October 2018’ Spotify playlist.

The track is also featured in the genre-based, best-of Spotify compilation Indie Rock 2018.
