Fixer – “Turning”

/

“Turning” is the opening track off Gem, the new album from Michigan native (and new Portland, OR resident) Matt Langlais, who records under the name Fixer. The album presents 35 minutes of accessible alternative, rock, and pop sounds, led by an easygoing melodic vocal presence and a knack for hooks constructed by both angular guitar lines and effervescent synths/keys. “Turning” is precisely that, growing from nonchalant verses with a hypnotic guitar punctuation leading to a chorus with playful synth accompaniments. Langlais created the album alongside long-time collaborator Steven Michael Holmes and engineer/producer Andrew Benda at Centennial Sound studio in Grand Rapids, MI.
