Premiere: CRV – “Song 004”

/

Released today, “Song 004” is a rockin’ new track from Brooklyn-via-Austin trio CRV. Off the band’s new Compact Recreational Vehicle album, which also released today (and is streaming below), “Song 004” recalls no-frills early ’90s alternative and garage-rock, with acts like Slint and Pavement coming to mind. The lyrics themselves speak to nostalgia in their recollections — “I built a motorbike and drove down your street,” — with the alternation between quainter hypnotic guitars and more garage-set distortion playing well alongside the emotive vocals. It’s a striking track off an impressive release, which manages to show a convincing and confident aesthetic in just over 15 minutes.

“Song 004” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of June 2019’ Spotify playlist.

The track is also featured in the genre-based, best-of Spotify compilation Indie Rock.
