Soft Sports – “Silent Type”

/

“Silent Type” is the lead single from Brighton-based act Soft Sports’ debut EP Elephant. A galloping bass line and suave vocals are nicely accompanied by vibrant guitar lines in the first minute, the vocals and guitar work reminiscent of Television / Tom Verlaine. “I belong to no one, and no one belongs to me,” the vocals relay, nicely reflecting the tonal nonchalance. The track’s mid-point sees a more involved bridge, with flashing guitar lines adding to the climactic feel as the second-minute mark approaches — the “go our separate ways,” hook and concluding guitar solo both excelling, in particular. “Silent Type” is a masterfully produced, confident release from an impressive EP, streaming in full here.

“Silent Type” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of June 2019’ Spotify playlist.
