Upstairs – “Placebo Buttons”

/

“Placebo Buttons” is a consuming track from Chicago-based band Upstairs, off their new EP Town All Over Life. The verses are adorned by melodic vocals and jangly guitars, while the chorus expands with an alt-rock vigor — especially upon the wholly melodic vocal overlapping around 02:25. Geoff Daniels and Jon Massey deliver a dual-wielding vocal presence that invigorates. A track described by the band as “an upbeat song about things that have started to fall apart,” “Placebo Buttons” is a briskly melodic success, coming from an EP with stellar songwriting on display.
