Maida Rose – “Fallen”

/

“Fallen” is another dream-pop gem from Dutch duo Maida Rose. Roos Meijer and Javièr den Leeuw again craft a serenely captivating sound throughout. The “did I ever,” vocal rise into the chorus entrances with a hypnotic, swirling charm; the lyrical retrospection, contemplating the trials of a prior relationship, plays aptly alongside textural production reflecting a dream-like state. The verses present a patient dream-pop unfolding reminiscent of Beach House, while the guitar fragments and yearning vocals in the chorus wield a uniquely powerful effect.

“Fallen” comes via Maida Rose’s upcoming debut album, Tales of Adolescence. They wrote the track in London, taking inspiration from William Blake’s poem “The Little Girl Lost.”

Also recommended are previously featured tracks from Maida Rose — “Harmony of Heartache,” “Where Do We Go,” and “Within.”

This track and others featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of March 2022’ Spotify playlist.

The track is also featured in the genre-based, best-of Spotify compilation Emerging Dream-Pop.
