Rob Hancer – “Clockwise”

//

Swelling from piano-set yearning into a riveting rocker, “Clockwise” is a riveting new track from Rob Hancer. Lyrically detailing a conversation with Father Time, “Clockwise” reflects a poignant anxiety with time itself, particularly how one can spend time just like currency (in addition to spending it, and never getting it back). “I wanna run from you,” Hancer admits during the first escalation, bolstered by beautifully wordless harmonizing in between segments. The vocals deliver a striking ardency, reminiscent of Matthew Sweet, as the hypnotic backing piano line is joined enjoyably by psych-friendly guitar work throughout, especially upon the thunderous swelling past the two-minute mark. “Clockwise” stirs thoroughly with its passionate vocal work and rousing guitar/piano interplay.

This track and others featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of March 2022’ Spotify playlist.
