Sea Legs – “Under The Weather”

/

A new single from Leeds-based quartet Sea Legs, “Under The Weather” shows a hooky nostalgia that embraces ’90s alternative and grunge. The “perfect in every way,” chorus contrasts enjoyably with grungier feeling of verses, rising to captivating anthemic bliss past the one-minute turn. A bouncy guitar-based emphasis follows, as the peppier vocals emerge amidst the pulsing percussion. The chorus’ reprisal hits especially well thereafter. Following up January’s successful single “Gold Stars,” “Under The Weather” is poised to continue Sea Legs’ rise, featured with “Gold Stars” on Apple Music’s ‘New in Alternative’ playlist.

Frontman Tom Saunders elaborates on the track, below:

“I wanted to write a song that addressed the desire to be positive even if you’re struggling – to shake the idea that someone is choosing to be down, and emphasise that they would almost certainly rather be happy. I thought the chorus lyric was a nice poetic way of summing that up.”

This track and others featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of March 2022’ Spotify playlist.
