Lucky Spell – “King Lonely Boy”

/

“King Lonely Boy” is a melodic single from Lucky Spell, the Los Angeles-based project of Kyle Emerson and Alex Katsaropoulos. Brisk guitar twangs and fluttering keys craft an amiable introduction, giving way to equally accessible vocals. A percussive pulse and lush synths serve as the initial accompaniment, evolving steadily into the crisp guitars’ re-emergence. “I can bury my pain like an idiot, or I can finally own it,” the vocals let out during a particularly catching melodic shift. The “leave it in Indiana,” hook is wholly replay-inducing, converging the breezily delight instrumentation with a laid-back vocal composure.

Per Lucky Spell: “The song is about getting over yourself and not wallowing in your pain. After a heartbreak, you just need to kick on.”

This track and others featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of June 2022’ Spotify playlist.
