Ryan Ericsson – “Shape”

Seattle-based artist Ryan Ericsson crafts a mellow rock success with new track “Shape.” Chirpy guitar jangles and reflective keys complement a solemn vocal to start, bolstered by a warming rhythm section as the first minute turn approaches. “Why do I strain to define you, why do I feel inclined to,” Ericsson sings during the consuming rise, touting rock and power-pop dramatics reminding fondly of Matthew Sweet.

Approaching the three-minute bend, a charismatic guitar line emerges with emotive appeal. Ericsson’s multi-layered vocal passion follows for a final plea, closing the track with stirring resonance. “Shape” kicks off the EP with replay-inducing, melodic charm.
