Kansas City-based artist Eric Cohen shows a driving hip-hop sound on “A.M.E.N.,” described by Cohen as a “worship song made for the Glory of God.” Cohen’s mission statement with his music is “to be an impact of positivity and light for the people who are lost or need healing.” Aesthetically, the pulsating hip-hop sound makes for a contemplative result that’s fitting for exuding worship and admiration.

“A.M.E.N.” exhilarates with its momentum-filled beat. A clanging piano bounce is complemented by sporadic, eerie glistening alongside a steady percussive pulse. Cohen’s initial vocals ease in, spelling out the track title. “A.M.E.N. — day out, day in, praise king, lift him,” Cohen lets out during the chorus, shifting seamlessly into the more stream-of-conscious feeling within the verses. A string-laden shimmer during the chorus adds further to the engaging soundscape.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of December 2022’ Spotify playlist.
