Kimball Frank – “Don’t Call Me”

/

Showing a resonating rock sound with stirring vocals and a hooky climactic pull, “Don’t Call Me” is a new track from Kimball Frank. The first single from his upcoming debut album, “Don’t Call Me” shows shades of R.E.M. in its steady guitar pulses and vocal work, escalating from contemplative musings to a passionate vigor.

“Sometimes I think about how the plans we make, all terminate in a tidal wave,” Frank sings during the stirring chorus, reoccurring throughout in enjoyable form with some yearning, existential allure — taking somewhat comfort in the darkness of imminent finality. Blistering guitar work and bouncy keys build engagingly past the three-minute turn, culminating in a final, satiating “sometimes I think about,” reprisal. “Don’t Call Me” is a display in excellent songwriting from Kimball Frank.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of February 2023’ Spotify playlist.

The track is also featured in the genre-based, best-of Spotify compilation Emerging Indie Rock.
