Lucy Blackwell – “I See A Ghost”

/

The new track from Lucy Blackwell (formerly known as SPiiiRIT), “I See A Ghost” is as haunting as its title suggests, unveiling an eerie assortment of weeping strings and chilling vocal layers throughout its stirring production. The title-touting vocal refrain mesmerizes alongside the budding strings, as reflective guitar distortion adds a fulfilling layer in the second half. Blackwell’s second single so far this year (following “grandfather clocks“) is a resonating success.

Blackwell expands upon the track:

“The song is about the feeling of being on psychiatric medication and looking in the mirror and seeing nothing in your reflection but a watered down, empty person… The medications take away the negatives but also the positives for some people and unfortunately, with some I’ve tried, I experienced the walking emptiness.”

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of May 2023’ Spotify playlist.
