Serious People – “Nobody Knows I’m Twisted”

/

Fleeting guitar twangs and moody synths intertwine with late-night atmospheric appeal on “Nobody Knows I’m Twisted,” the debut single from New York-based project Serious People. The effort tells “the story of a chilling confession which turns the relationship on its head.”

“I thought that you were twisted too,” the vocals express into a bustling guitar-based murkiness, with complicated relationship indicators included — “did you ever love me? I keep on coming back for more. She says ‘I wish I didn’t love you.'”

Nocturnal-friendly guitar tones and debonair vocals concoct a confident, intriguing rock sound amidst the relationship second-guessing. Atmospheric momentum rounds the two-minute mark as the thumping rhythm section evolves into eerie synth trickling and catching guitar additives. “Nobody Knows I’m Twisted” is a mightily impressive debut from Serious People.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of August 2023’ Spotify playlist.
