That Graduate – “If you and I”

/

The project’s debut, “If you and I” is a compelling single from That Graduate. Jangling guitars drive into a tightly infectious bass line and percussive accompaniment, as the vocals prove lamenting in their portrayal of a new absence. Peppy guitar-fronted upticks, like around 01:20, excel into further textured jangle-pop engrossment. Prickly guitar tones emerge just prior to the two-minute turn, diversifying enjoyably as the punchy vocals emerge for the satiating conclusion.

“I wrote this song after hearing about my brother moving away,” the artist says. “He left behind our other musical project “Hard Yes” and I doubted that I could write/produce anything as substantial on my own. “If you and I” contradict those doubts. It has a very positive and friendly tone with an upbeat melancholic vibe to it.”

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of August 2023’ Spotify playlist.
