Eckman & Borelius – “The Legacy”

/

A calmingly insightful single with gentle piano pulses driving to a hopeful, soaring chorus, “The Legacy” is a new single from Eckman & Borelius, a duo based in Malmö, Sweden. Multi-instrumentalist Johan Eckman and vocalist Tobias Borelius show a powerful, timely direction here, emphasizing a poignant central message amidst the lush piano drive and serene guitar twangs.

The clamoring “let’s find a new way,” speaks to “the future,” with introspective immersion, calling to treasure the present moment — and the planet’s health in general — for the sake of future stability. “The message is important,” the duo writes. “We have to take care of our planet. If not for our sake, but for our children. They will inherit it from us.”

The nocturnal initial disposition, referring to stars shining bright alongside delicate piano, becomes cohesively accompanied by the twangy guitar infusions. The “will matter some day,” vocal push resonates in particular, addressing a contingent that can’t see the forest for the trees. The minimalist, thematically relevant prowess throughout “The Legacy” makes for a powerful impact.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of September 2023’ Spotify playlist.
