Spirits of Saturn – “Transfigured”

//

A consuming synth-pop production stirs on “Transfigured,” a new single from London-based band Spirits of Saturn. Their third single is an exploration of the mental impact following a relationship’s dissolution, with the title itself referencing how emotions are transfigured following such tumult. “Your emotions, transfigured,” the track’s central hook concludes with, moving into an atmospheric array of string-laden intrigue and nostalgic synth twinkling.

The project formed in 2022 and comprises Superorganism member Early Sans (synths, vocals) alongside Edmund Blackadder (vocals, keys), Scott Docherty (bass), and Elian Lion (drums). A recent tour with Temples adds to the project’s evident momentum, and now “Transfigured” cements their continued ascent. The track enamors with a moody initial vocal spell, complemented by Kraftwerk-esque rhythmic hypnotics alongside ethereal synths, and evolves with a melodically captivating engrossment throughout. The debonair vocal styling and array of synth tones, from spacious soundscapes to tightly infectious rhythmic accompaniments, lead the charge on this stellar track.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
