Lisa Cuthbert – “This Kind of Sin”

//

A new track from Irish singer/songwriter and producer Lisa Cuthbert, “This Kind of Sin” compels in its climactic atmospheric build — traversing from spacious dreaminess into an emotive escalation with post-rock expanse; harmonious vocal layers, guitars, synths, and organ combine for a satiating catharsis as this point hits. “This Kind of Sin” represents a riveting sound from Cuthbert, who emphasizes the power of transformation within self and music — utilizing the “power of music and storytelling in confronting and healing from past traumas, both individually and collectively.”

The artwork is also reflective of the track’s overall themes. “I wanted to create a visual representation that mirrors the transformative journey from pain to liberation,” Cuthbert explains. “The artwork features a shrouded figure emerging from the fog, with faint outlines of butterfly wings, symbolizing growth, change, and empowerment – themes central both to the survivor narratives and my own artistic and personal evolution.”

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
