Zenzero – “Ordinary Illusions”

Zenzero is a post-electronic duo comprised of Tim Kellett (Durutti Column, Simply Red, Olive) and Rosie Doonan (Birdie, Peter Gabriel), crafting a soulful and atmospheric vein of music that quickly captivates. Such is evident throughout their new 7-track release Ordinary Illusions, especially on the release’s opening, self-titled track. Both vocals weave in their own haunting, mysterious presence, initially accompanying a barren synth-tinged buzz and expanding into a chorus with ample melodic charisma, though still while retaining its cool. Similar goodness can be found on the release, especially highlights “Till It’s Gone” and “Doubters n Shouters”.
