Dominy – “Hey There Big Boy”

/

“Hey There Big Boy” is the latest success from Dominy, again showing the Philly act’s timeless and hooky rock sound, having impressed with “Money” and “Mary Don’t Bury Me” in the past. The track — described by the band as “about our various run ins with tough guys who try to fight us in the city,” — is the first single off their upcoming sophomore album Drugstore Cowboys. The track succeeds lyrically and tonally with its tongue-in-cheek humor, confronting aggression with a melodic shrug — “you don’t know nothin’,” followed by a breezy and twangy guitar progression. “Hey There Big Boy” continues the band’s penchant for accessible rock with feel-good vibes.

“Hey There Big Boy” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of May 2019’ Spotify playlist.
