José Junior – “Forever”

/

“Forever” is the lovely debut single from José Junior, touting a soaring rock sound. The artist describes the track as “a sad love song that attempts to transcend bittersweet sting of heartbreak with soaring guitars and meaty riffs.” The melodic, guitar-fronted sound compares favorably to The Brian Jonestown Massacre, especially the “you say that you don’t want me anymore,” vocal twist prior to the first “forever,” chorus. The second half sees a more vibrant, escalating series of overlapping guitars, as the vocals also tick up in tone. “Forever” rides with suave satisfaction and brightly gripping guitar tones, with José Junior wearing melodic songwriting smarts on his sleeve.

“Forever” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of October 2019’ Spotify playlist.

The track is also featured in the genre-based, best-of Spotify compilation Indie Rock.
