Shafkkat – “Mosquito Tweeter”

“Mosquito Tweeter” is a hypnotic groover from London-based electronic artist Shafkkat. The pulsing, steady percussion conjures vintage house nostalgia, while the expressive vocal presence — exuding a Bobby Womack-esque yearning — entrances throughout. “I got something to yell you,” the vocals lead into a snappy percussive expansion, the added vigor meshing enjoyably with the vocal suaveness. The track’s night-friendly soundscape and club-inspired rhythms make for a sound that’s equally appropriate on a dance floor or stylish night drive. “Mosquito Tweeter” is a convincing aesthetic and melodic success from Shafkkat.

The track follows the release of “Her,” a collaboration with electronic artist ROJAZ.

This track and others featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of March 2022’ Spotify playlist.
