Black Hat – “How I Won the War”

“How I Won the War” is a stylishly maneuvering rocker from Black Hat, spanning from desert-set rock suaveness to psych-laden dream-pop spurts. The project is based in Savannah, Georgia, and this represents their fourth single.

Lonesome guitar twangs swell into an eerily delectable range of organs and plucky effects, traversing into a sporadic dose of guitar distortion upon the vocal switch-up’s entrancement. The “now I get to be crazy,” sequence enthralls with its dream-pop traversal, following a more debonair rock appeal. The mid-point burst is especially gripping, venturing into a psych-friendly guitar emphasis thereafter.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of October 2023’ Spotify playlist.
