Nashville-based artist Jesse Lynn Madera meshes Americana and singer/songwriter appeal on new single “Austin,” via the forthcoming album Speed of Sound. Madera’s dynamic vocal delivery takes hold from the get-go, traversing seamlessly from narrative contemplation — “just outside of Austin,” — into rousing, organ-laden theatrics in the enveloping chorus. Piano builds into the reveberating vocal passion there, with the “I think I know the secret,” satiation rousing into the southern-rock flair of the “gotta get to Austin tonight,” enamoring. “Austin” is a magnetic success from Madera.
Featuring production from Dan Navarro (Lowen & Navarro) and Jim Scott (Tedeschi Trucks Band and Wilco), “Austin” kicks off what looks to be an ascending year for Madera.
