Known Moons – “This Hell”

/

Milwaukee-based project Known Moons unveil their third single from the upcoming Everything Is EP. “This Hell” straddles colorful synth-laden hookiness with a moody post-punk undercurrent, complemented by lyrics that ruminate on consequence and a sense of disillusionment. Gone now, they’re jaded, complacent,” the vocals let out, traversing into a buzzing guitar resonance alongside starry-eyed synths; this sequence is especially exemplary of the project’s tonally dynamic charm. “This Hell” has us firmly anticipating the upcoming EP.

The project’s recent string of singles — starting with “By the Billions” this past October — is the byproduct of a week-long recording session at Silver City Studios in Milwaukee, taking place in early 2023 and involving Andrew James, Elliott Douglas (M.A.G.S.) and Josh Evert (Dinner Set Gang).

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
