Midnight Spies – “In Continuum”

/

“In Continuum” is an angst-y new-wave envisioning from Midnight Spies, firmly succeeding in a production that balances moody immersion and hooky immediacy. A trickling guitar momentum appears initially, full of ’80s nostalgia, as a steady vocal presence ruminates on “big ideas and radical view, wondering if it’s all a ruse.” The piano-laden flourishing thereafter combines with an emotive vocal escalation for an enthralling sequence, one that strongly induces replays.

“I don’t share your taste for that ethanol,” the vocals continue, traversing into another gripping “blood on the yellow rose,” ascent. Lonesome guitar tones linger gorgeously into the final minute, cementing the emotively memorable ’80s nostalgia and strong sense of mood conveyed throughout.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
