Sam Wright – “Sand”

/

“Sand” is a lovely, mellow rocker from Sam Wright. The Toronto-based artist shows hazy vocals and jangly guitars in the verses, gearing toward more shimmering guitar tones past the one-minute mark alongside elongated vocal crooning. The hypnotic sway of the guitars, along with the lushly endearing vocal presence, makes for an enticing aesthetic. Around 03:30 shows an excellent twist, with jam-friendly guitars exuding a beach-set, rock-nostalgia charm. “Sand” is a serene success.

Wright says that the track is “about the illusive sensuality of ‘her’ referring to both the ocean and a special lady.”

“Sand” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of July 2020’ Spotify playlist.

The track is also featured in the genre-based, best-of Spotify compilation Emerging Indie Rock.
