Stray Fossa – “For What Was”

/

Stray Fossa impress with the “For What Was,” a bouncier and more uptempo success compared to past efforts like “These Days” and “Are You Gonna Be Okay.” The Charlottesville, VA-based band’s latest single pursues a more psych-tinged vein of bursting rock, compared to a dreamier and textural sound in the past. The result is just as successful, the sound being one that will delight fans of early Tame Impala. Bursts of guitar, like at the two-minute mark, show a soaring enjoyment that bridges the vocal sections with precision. The final minute, with crunching guitars and serene vocals, caps “For What Was” with a consuming delight.

“For What Was” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of July 2020’ Spotify playlist.

The track is also featured in the genre-based, best-of Spotify compilation Emerging Indie Rock.
