David Taro – “The Answer”

Reflecting on the search for meaning within, “The Answer” is a stirring new track from London-based artist David Taro, who impressed this past July with the single “Judy.” His third and final single of the year, “The Answer” was recorded in Taro’s South London home studio.

“The Answer” evolves with a tactful, emotive composure. The tender acoustics and vulnerable vocals grow to a twinkling key accompaniment, with the “time rolls on,” vocal remark resonating. Aesthetically, I’m fondly reminded of Suede’s more steadily unfolding efforts, like “Stay Together.” “I would wait a thousand nights for you,” Taro lets out, the yearning playing with genuine appeal into the “searching for an answer,” expansion.

“But maybe there’s no answer to find,” Taro admits during this compelling sequence. “We only ever wanted to be dancers, but maybe we were dancing all the time.” The track’s lyrics prove poignant in its commentary on the sometimes futile pursuit for meaning, without embracing the present moment. A passionate melodic twist prior to the three-minute turn elevates this enjoyable track even further.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of December 2022’ Spotify playlist.
