The Overhead Bins – “Microphone”

“Microphone” builds with dreamy folk allure into an increasingly rock-forward sound, culminating in soaring guitar work and underlying distortion. The stellar track comes via New York-based act The Overhead Bins, and their new album Telethon.

A backing shimmer adds to the contemplative guitar tones as the one-minute turn approach. The vocals express a satisfactory “all that I need,” into further guitar-laden trickling, reminding of parts Wolf Alice and Radiohead. Wordless vocal affections around the mid-point exude a dreamier pop disposition, before launching into a satiating rock-friendly finale — capping off this memorable track with replay-inducing vigor.
