Jettes – “Traces”

/

Jettes are the duo of Laura Lee and Melody Connor, who show an exhilarating garage-rock sound on new track “Traces.” The Berlin-based act grip from the get-go with gauzy guitar distortion and enjoyably nonchalant vocals, which build toward a chorus that sings “say goodbye, leave your traces in the sky / it’s not easy to come down, won’t you turn around?” The “turn around,” section repeats during the chorus’ second go-round, followed by a nice bridge with some halted guitar work and subtle background vocals. A hypnotic and confident slice of garage-rock, “Traces” is a solid release from Jettes.

Keep a look out for the duo’s new EP, which – per the band – is “made of grungy Rock’n’Roll songs about a plane hijacker, long-lost childhood loves and feeling awkward at gallery openings.”
