HOLLOWBODY – “Hypnotise”

/

A stylishly peppy track with twangy guitars and synth-infused trickles, “Hypnotise” comes via HOLLOWBODY, a band based in Merseyside, UK. “Hypnotise” follows up their debut single “Razorwire,” released this past December.

“Tell me all those little lies, speak in tongue, cast a spell,” the vocals entice as the guitars escalate. The subdued, twangy guitars during the lyrical palm readings build again with invigoration, as references to spells and “lines on my palm,” exude an otherworldly mystique that plays well alongside the snappy instrumentation, until it all “goes black” in a satisfying flash.

The band describe the release as “a song about grappling with who controls your thoughts, is it a partner in a toxic relationship, you own self-destructive side, false prophets or something higher.”

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of April 2023’ Spotify playlist.
