Video: Dream Phases – “The Fixer”

/

Dream Phases is continuously impressing with their sound. Back in 2017, “Summer Daze” impressed with classic ’60s and ’70s rock influence, also infusing elements of soul and country. Last year’s “Clear Skies” established a firmer psych-rock leaning, and just-released “The Fixer” continues strutting an engrossing sound that’s steeped in psych and alternative persona.

“The Fixer” is a track from Dream Phases’ new album Mr. Midnight Vol. 1, released today. Stream it in full on Spotify here. Twangy guitar, a bustling bass line, and a lively organ-based presence combine over confident vocals, which leads to a bursting chorus that first appears at 00:42. “The Fixer” is an extremely consuming success from a very stellar just-released album.

From the artist: “Mr. Midnight is the first in a series of compilation albums collecting songs from frontman Brandon Graham’s archives. The songs on this set include tracks dating as far back as 2004 and go up until just a few weeks ago. This will be an ongoing series. Although it is a compilation album it is intended to be listened to as an album with each track flowing into the next.”

“The Fixer” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of January 2019’ Spotify playlist.

The track is also featured in the genre-based, best-of Spotify compilation Indie Rock.
